The Age of Baroque

THE AGE OF BAROQUE

Among the general characteristics of baroque art are a sense of movement, energy, and tension (whether real or implied). Strong contrasts of light and shadow enhance the dramatic effects of many paintings and sculptures. Even baroque buildings, with their undulating walls and decorative surface elements, imply motion with contrasts in light and color. Intense spirituality is often present in works of baroque art.

There are five Characteristics of Baroque. Motion and space is the major concern of baroque period and one of the characteristics of baroque. The time, light and theatricality are characteristics of baroque.

RENAISSANCE

Renaissance, series of literary and cultural movements in the 14th, 15th, and 16th centuries. These movements began in Italy and eventually expanded into Germany, France, England, and other parts of Europe. The word renaissance means "rebirth." The idea of rebirth originated in the belief that Europeans had rediscovered the superiority of Greek and Roman culture after many centuries of what they considered intellectual and cultural decline. And the participants studied the great civilizations of ancient Greece and Rome and came to the conclusion that their own cultural achievements rivaled those of antiquity. Their thinking was also influenced by the concept of humanism, which emphasizes the worth of the individual. Renaissance humanists believed it was possible to improve human society through classical education.    The most striking characteristics of Renaissance period is Rediscovery of Classical Literature and Art. During the Middle Ages there was a lively interest in classical literature, especially Latin and Latin translations of Greek. This attention was mostly confined to the professional activities of theologians, philosophers, and writers. In the Renaissance, however, people from various segments of society—from kings and nobles to merchants and soldiers—studied classical literature and art. Unlike the professional scholars of the Middle Ages, these people were amateurs who studied for pleasure, and their interest in art from the past was soon extended to contemporary works. Medieval art and literature tended to serve a specialized interest and purpose; Renaissance works of art and literature existed largely for their own sake, as objects of ideal beauty or learning.

 Early CHRISTian ART:
Christian  art began  as a language of symbols, the Good Shepherd,  fish,  anchor, birds, and the cross, served  as a kind of hieroglyphic writing, opening the history of Christian art.   Art was forced to go underground, literally, via the Catacombs. This era was called the Period of Persecution. The Catacombs served as an underground cemetery as well as a church for services and secreting Christians fugitives.
In all human history there is no record so striking as that of the rise of Christianity, and no phenomenon so outstanding as the rapidity with which it was diffused throughout the civilized world, and, not only in this period but also in all subsequent ages, Christianity has inspired the building of some of the greatest architectural monuments.
In my own opinion about Christianity in the period of early christian is that, there is only ONE GOD. Being a christian is not a religious it is your personal life with God. You live for God not because some told you to do the things you really understand. It is your personal walk with God, you truly understand that God Love’s you and you want to paid it back to him.

Art of the Ancient and Art of the Classical

In Classical period and in Ancient period produced some of the most exquisite sculptures in the world that I ever seen. The art of the Classical Greek style is characterized by a joyous freedom of movement, freedom of expression, and it celebrates mankind as an independent entity. In that time, artists begin to expand the formal aesthetic boundaries while they worked in expressing the human figure in a more naturalistic manner. They were able to replace the strict asymmetry of the figure with a free flowing form more true to life, while they approached an ideal aesthetic vision through stone and bronze.
And one of the art that I like is in classical art is the "The dying Gaul".

Why? Because it illustrates the Hellenistic artist's preoccupation with high drama and unleashed passion. And I’m so amazed that, it was the first time in human history that the human body was studied for its aesthetic values, and was treated as an autonomous universe.
I don't think that the two eras of art have influence my personal style as an artist, Because I have my own perspective or I have my own style on how I create my own style of art. Even though it doesn't nice to see, But I wish I can draw or I can paint like their arts.
And I'm so interested in the two period of arts the Ancient art and the classical art. I'm so inspired by their sculpture, its really looks like a human every time they create a sculpture.

I think it will not be easy for me to create artworks like in the period of Ancient and the Classical Art. Because I'm not a good artist, but I pray that it will come a day that I can create an art work like their artworks.

1. What are your most striking impressions on Ancient and Classical Arts?
2. Do you believe these two eras of art have any influence on your personal style as an artist?
3. What interests you most on the predominant artistic style and subject matter of the two periods.
4. Do you think it will be easy to create artworks inspired by the two periods of art? Why or why not?

Enter a world of Beauty and
Imagination. . .

This is my world. this is the world I love.It is a world without limits. My world is what I choose to make it.
For me I choose realistic arts. Because in this art, it shows awareness and acceptance of reality, practical rather than ideal  or moral. Depicting what is real when you draw something you should be able to depict that it is real.  Realism rejects imaginative idealization in favor of a close observation  of outward appearance. As such, realism in it's broad sense has comprised many artistic currents in different civilizations.

I really like real art. Because in realistic art, it is an art that takes as it's subject real objects, scenes, events, people and situations that exist in the world, and attempts to render them mostly as they actually are to our visual sense, as well as to our emotions and mind.
In realistic art paints an image with shadows and 3d images that show depth and that look like something you would see in real life. Abstract uses 2d shapes without shadows that make a DISTORTED image...something you would definitely not see in real life.

Painting is just another way of keeping a diary

Art is an Art

I usually feel nervous when it comes on the spot drawing. For me making an impromptu arts is so different in having an impromptu speech. In making of an arts I should think of a design to convey attraction. Making an impromptu art is not really easy for me. Honestly I’m not good in drawing, but thanks to this subject of History of Arts and Design, it help me a lot in enhancing my skill in drawing. Sometimes there are times when I am not in the good mood in making arts. Although arts is an interesting to do nowadays. But in my own personal experience in making an art, it is enjoyable when you know how to draw.

The style of an artwork, artist, or movement is the distinctive method and form followed by the respective art. Any loose brushy, dripped or poured abstract painting is called expressionistic. Often a style is linked with a particular historical period, set of ideas, and particular artistic movement.. .

Ancient Greece

 History of Arts

History of arts is the history of any activity or product made by human in a visual form for aesthetic or communicative purpose, expressing ideas, emotions or in general.

The best periods of art history for me is, the ancient art. It was largely, but not entirely based on the nine great ancient civilizations: Egypt, Mesopotamia, Persia, Greece, Rome, India and Maya. Each of these centers of early civilization developed a unique and characteristics style in it’s art. And for me the most influential ear of art is the ancient Greece. Because Greece had the most influence on the development of aesthetics. This period of Greek art saw a veneration of the human physical form ad the development of corresponding skills to show musculative, poise, beauty and anatomically correct proportions. Now I know that the Greek philosophers initially felt that aesthetically appealing objects were beautiful in and of themselves. He felt that beautiful objects incorporated proportion, harmony, and unity among their parts. An example of ancient aesthetics in Greece through poetry is Plato's quote: "For the authors of those great poems which we admire, do not attain to excellence through the rules of any art; but they utter their beautiful melodies of verse in a state of inspiration, and, as it were, possessed by a spirit not their own."

I choose this history, because I believed that for us to have a perception of beauty there must be a transcendent form for beauty in which beautiful objects partake and which causes them to be beautiful also. Beauty in art reflects the beauty in Art.
